What Youll Be Doing
In this role, you will help students develop the skills they need to participate successfully in the classroom and school environment. This includes evaluating and treating fine motor delays, sensory integration challenges, and self-care deficits. You will also collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and IEP teams to create and implement customized intervention plans that align with each students needs. Your work helps students build independence, confidence, and access to their education.
Virginia State Requirements
To work as an Occupational Therapist in a public school in Virginia, you must:

Hold an active OT license from the Virginia Board of Medicine

Be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program with completed clinical fieldwork

Maintain certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Complete fingerprinting and background checks required by the district and the Virginia Department of Education
